We moved!

It has been a busy couple of months here at Leonardo’s Basement. A surprise notice to vacate our workshop space has led us a couple of miles down the road to a bigger, opportunity-rich space at 150 West 60th Street, Minneapolis, MN.

Thanks to many hours from industrious volunteers, the new workshop is ready for its first builders! We are excited for the inaugural lineup of classes, including Creativity Convention, Celebration of the Mind Event, Welding and Saturday Workshops, beginning October 15. After-school classes and workshops start in November. Register now.

There is still much to do at our new fixer-upper workshop. Please let us know if you would like to volunteer to help with the re-construction and design of the remaining work areas and/or if you have tools or materials to donate.

Reasons we are excited about our new workshop:

  • Outdoor space that can be used for big projects like castles, ships and rocket launches during classes and to build large installations for the Maker Faire.
  • More space for more classes, more often. More kids classes, more adult classes, and more events for families to build and play together. The new workshop is more twice as big as the old one and it has 14-foot high ceilings!
  • An accessible entrance means that people with mobility challenges can join our classes. Check out our Kickstarter campaign to learn more about improvements to the new space, including an ADA ramp, and how you can help.
